What's
New
High cost of
gas got you down? If you’re staying home more, what better way to pass
the time than knit?? Many people are taking a “knitting
vacation”—instead of driving somewhere this summer, they’re staying home
and taking advantage of the wonderful colors, fibers, and exciting
designs knitting offers to escape the everyday. What a great idea!
We want to say
thank you to our wonderful knitting family. The demise of the local
yarn shop has been predicted among industry experts and recently on
NPR’s Marketplace radio program. The BEST way to ensure you get not
only to touch, feel and see the yarns you’re yearning for but also to
continue to receive the service and instruction that ONLY your LYS can
bring you is to buy locally from your favorite LYS, no matter which one
is your fave. We’re about you, and your continued patronage is greatly
appreciated.
As always,
we’ve got new stuff to tell you about...in fact, we already have some of
the new fall stuff arriving. Even though we usually like to hold off a
lot of the fall stuff until the weather cools a tiny bit, we couldn’t
wait for a few things. New from Classic Elite and Jill Eaton is
MinnowMerino. Jill is the designer behind the cute Minnowknits
patterns and books, and she’s introduced a new line of super-soft merino
wool that is, amazingly, machine-washable! This yarn is a single-ply,
loosely spun yarn that looks like it will felt lying on the shelf, but
we’ve seen the proof—it’s completely machine washable. This yarn comes
in scrumptious colors perfect for kids or adults alike, and it’s in
stock NOW.
You’ve been
waiting for it, and it arrives on Wednesday the 30th!
Noro Silk Garden Sock yarn in all available colors—get it while you
can!
Another new
arrival of note: we’ve got O-Wool! When we first evaluated
O-Wool, we felt it just wasn’t appropriate for the Houston market. But
looking over it again at June’s trade show, we decided the 2-ply
fingering weight, perfect for socks, lace or baby garments, was really
too nice to be missed. We’ve also got their 50/50 worsted-weight
cotton/wool blend called Balance in stock now. Balance is a year-round
yarn in this climate bringing the best properties of both fibers to your
next project. Both yarns have a beautiful color palette, soft hand and
best of all, are certified organic! Way to go green!
We’ve got a
secret! Remember those awesome rosewood circulars with the divine
connecting cable that were magically soft, supple and non-kinky? At $40
per pair, they were worth every penny and sold very well. Recently,
though, we found the EXACT same needle, marketed under the Pony brand
name for $25 per pair. If you haven’t tried knitting with a
high-quality needle, you’ll be amazed at what you’ve been missing!
And…we’ve finally caved. You’ve been asking for addi Natura bamboo
circulars, and we’ve got ‘em. These beautiful bamboos are worth the
extra cost—they’ve got the best bamboo join in the business, along with
the wonderful addi connecting cable.
Also new in the
shop: new bags by Namaste, Lantern Moon and della Q. And we’ve finally
gotten more of those cute and sassy bags with the femme quips (one of
our faves: High maintenance doesn’t even BEGIN to cover it) from Anne
Taintor.
Can you believe
it’s already been a year? Little Abby will be one year old at the end
of July, and to celebrate, she wanted to have a SALE! We need to make
room for our fall arrivals, so August 1st, 2nd and
3rd, we’re putting all of our clearance yarn on sale for
$3.00/ball!!! There’s some great stuff in there, and that means a
majority of it will be less than our cost. In addition, we’ll have some
of your favorite brands on sale—all in-stock Koigu, Alchemy, Honeypot
and Louisa Harding yarns will be 30% off. Woo-hoo! |
